  • Recessed Trolling Motor

Anyone put one of those aftermarket recessed trolling motor mounts on there boat ? Couple on the market not sure which one is best. It appears fairly easy to put in after you get over the initial shock of cutting a hole in your boat.

I put one in my Ranger. You are right about the first cut into the deck. I bought the plastic one because it was half the price of the metal ones out there. It works fine but I think I like the look of the metal ones.

          trolling motor recess

i found if you look on ebay and by a metal off brand same feasture just cost little less. the big thing is to mark template exactly right there is only a quarter inch all the way around the lip sets on so make sure you mark check and check again before you cut or do like i did cut it out about 1/2 smaller and remark and re cut it works great and there is some foam you have to cut out after floor is cut but not big deal with a saw zaw , i also added a bead of silicone around it as i placed in hole. the pan has drain hose but it does cut into front box area so if you dont seal it with silicone your front box will leak. if you have any more questions let me know please
