  • 5-26 LKA Stripers

Last 4 days on the lake have been a washing machine with all the holiday boat traffic. No way I was going to fight that. Caught 11 medium gizzard shad last evening with the throw net and kept them alive in the bait tank until this morning. Got out around 7 am because of early fog on the lake. Put out 3 planer boars on each side of the boat and also 4 down lines for a total of 10 baits out. After about 30 minutes a down rod starts squealing to give me a very decent fight and land a 27 inch striper weighing 6.5 lbs. Shortly after, a planer board goes flying across the water and it's another good fish......26 inches and also 6.5 lbs. While trying to get the hook out of that fish, another down rod bends over double and land a 23 incher. So, 2 fish flopping around making a mess of the boat. Finally get them in the cooler and another down rod hooks up with a 23 inch fish. Four fish landed within about a 30 minute span. Head back the the dock around 8:30. One of my better big fish days on the lake .

Haha.....no. Maybe 1 in 10 trips out. Catching bait is a real pain. If I catch enough the evening before off my dock, I'll keep it in the bait tank until the next morning.
