  • Crappie Report

    Posted by lunker

Anyone have any crappie reports ( I am sure we all have crappy reports) but looking to do a little fishing with my neighbor and his boy. Figured maybe we would go for some panfish and a nice fish fry.

We caught 6 yesterday 2-18-2008 on the "hotside" back in Elk Creek 5 were 1-1/2 lbs or better. The 6th one was a citation 2lbs 8oz. All were caught on suspending shad jerk baits in about 6-8 ft. of water. Very slow presentation. Water temp was 56.7 degrees. We were fishing for bass and released them all. If you would like a picture send me an E-mail: [email protected] Hawgman

Striper, do you have access to the "hotside"? We fished the "Hotside" Monday 3-3-2008 and caught 10 Bass, biggest about 3lb.and 1 Crappie about 1.5 lbs. The Crappie are still holding in the same place, they are staging to spawm in the back of Elk Creek. The bass are coming off a trench in Elk Creek and around Boat Docks in 8-12 feet of water. The water temperture was 54-56 degrees in the back of Elk Creek. Today (3-4-2008)we fished the "Coldside" and only caught three, two were in the 2.5lb class and one was 14 inches. All were caught on wood that was providing horizontal cover and they would not move more that two feet to take a bait, you had to almost hit them on the head with it.
