    started a topic Cobia 6/25 & 6/26

    Cobia 6/25 & 6/26

We found some cobia biting in the Harborton area. Saturday we caught a 41" & 46" cobia and some cownose rays. Sunday we caught two short cobia, a 43" cobia and some cownose rays.
This was my first time ever cobia fishing. We anchored in 22 FOW and put a chum bag out during outgoing tides. Cut fresh bunker is the bait we used with 7/0 hooks and 3oz sinker on a slider rig (fishfinder?). The 46" cobia played with the bait for a few seconds before pulling hard enough to set the hook. The other 2 keepers didn't play with the bait at all. They doubled the rod over and were pulling drag before any other sign of a bite. They come to the surface and jumped out of the water shaking their head...it was pretty awesome! All 3 keepers seemed to come to the boat relatively easy, but once they see the boat and you "think" you're about to net them, they pull like a freight train. A good idea is to loosen the drag a little when they get close to the boat so they can pull line off the reel without breaking your rod or line, and possibly pulling the hook.

Wanted to attach pictures but they're too big and I dont know how to resize.
Not sure how the striper pictures from fathers day were ok, but pictures from the same phone are now too big
Working...
