  • Tried something new

Tried fishing someplace different lately and ran into a local that was willing to share some info on how to catch some bass there. The water was anywhere from 14-15 to 20-22 feet and the bass were suspended most of time. His advice was to use a flutter spoon that mimicked the shad. I had really only used spoons in saltwater, and tiny ones for trout. He gave me one to use and told me how he likes to fish it. I gave it a try and I had so much better success than trying to plow through it on my own. It told me two things, the flutter spoon is a great lure for deep suspended fish, and that there are still some anglers willing to share without worrying about someone "catching their fish".

I see plenty of videos of guys using flutter spoons for suspended bass and stripers but have never tried it myself. That's cool you were able to have success with a new technique and good on that guy for sharing that knowledge!
