  • Chop 22 Apr

Spent the day on the Chop in my kayak. Saw some splashing just before I launched so
I made a few casts. Decent SH before I even got the plastic boat wet. Little slow after
that and it rained a good bit off and on. Worked counter clockwise around most of the
creek and when I was coming back along the North side, things got interesting. The
pads are in but the weeds/milfoil underneath is not. I was fishing in 3-4' deep water
within casting distance to shore. I caught 9 bass; (most in the 4 pound range) 2 SH:
and 1 Catfish. ALL of them were on a green chatterbait with a green trailer. Water
was warm; (much warmer than the air and rain.) Bottom was firmer (sand) instead
    of mud.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure I found them on their beds at just the right time or there
was an unexpected hatch of YUM Watermelon/Red Flake Crawbugs. It was a whole
    lot of fun regardless.
